Post 1 £42,721 - £46,994 (36 Hours per week)
Post 2 £34,176 - £37,555 (28.8 Hours per week)

As part of Children, Families and Justice Service, Services for Young People, we offer support to young people aged 12-26 across Perth and Kinross.

We currently have two fixed term community learning worker roles. The role will include, but is not exclusive to, playing a key role in improving outcomes for care-experienced young people, as well as those who are most vulnerable or at risk.

You will work directly with young people in a locality, particularly those who are care-experienced.

You will:

  • Design and deliver accessible, engaging, and empowering learning opportunities.
  • Build trusted, trauma-informed relationships that place the needs, rights, and voice of young people at the centre.
  • Support young people to overcome barriers in education, wellbeing, and community participation.

This role is grounded in the principles of The Promise and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). You will contribute to creating environments where children and young people are safe, heard, respected, and supported to thrive.

Based within the Youth Work Team at Scott Street and in a locality in Perth & Kinross, you will work alongside a variety of partners. You will also work closely with colleagues in fieldwork teams, education, employability and third sector organisations.

You will be responsible to the Team Leader for Services for young people youth work.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Candidates must have the Community Learning and Development Degree and will not be considered for interview if not.
  • Experience working with young people, particularly those who are care experienced, at risk, or facing significant barriers.
  • Strong understanding of The Promise, UNCRC, and rights based practice, trauma informed practice.
  • Ability to build trusting, respectful, and consistent relationships with young people and their families.
  • Creative approach to community learning that motivates and empowers young people.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with partner agencies.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and a values driven approach to practice.
  • You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
