Live-in Female Support Worker

Pay rate: £171.58 per day + £10 per day food allowance (Weekly or Monthly pay available)
Shift pattern: 1 week on and 1 week off - 12:00pm Monday - 12:00pm Monday

We are looking for a compassionate, reliable and proactive Female Live-In Support Worker to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a gentleman living independently in a fully adapted bungalow in Gedling, Nottingham.

Following a C6/C7 spinal injury, the person we support is a full-time wheelchair user and requires support with aspects of daily living and complex care. Independence is extremely important to the person we support, who continues to manage many aspects of life and personal affairs independently.

As a Live-In Support Worker, you will provide person-centred support with daily routines and complex care needs, including bowel care, catheter care, hoist transfers, monitoring and recording observations, and support with diabetes management. You will also support with appointments, community access, household tasks, preparing drinks and light refreshments, and maintaining a clean and comfortable home. A key part of the role will be providing companionship, engaging conversation and support with accessing activities and interests, including driving to hydrotherapy appointments, Nottingham Forest matches and other activities within the community.

This role is about much more than providing care. The person we support enjoys getting out and about and spending time in an adapted woodworking cabin, so we are looking for someone who is positive, engaging and proactive, while understanding the importance of promoting choice, dignity and independence always.

Previous care or support experience

• Experience supporting individuals with spinal injuries and/or complex care needs is desirable
• Confidence providing person-centred support while promoting choice, dignity and independence
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to follow care plans, risk assessments and clinical guidance Confidence with accurate record keeping and reporting changes in support needs
• A full UK driving licence and confidence driving an automatic vehicle
• The ability to commit to the live-in working pattern of one week on, one week off
• A reliable, flexible and proactive approach to supporting the person’s lifestyle and routines
