Job Requirements/Description
We are now recruiting for Catering Assistants (Retail) to join our teams working within Café Retreat and Coffee @ Queen’s at Queen's Hospital Burton.

We are looking for compassionate, caring, hardworking, and flexible team members who are committed to enhancing the experience of our patients, visitors, and staff. Every member of staff at UHDB plays a vital role in supporting the organisation and helping to deliver high-quality services.

You will need to possess excellent communication skills, enjoy working as part of a team, and have a positive, can-do attitude.

In this role, you will support the day-to-day operation of Café Retreat and Coffee @ Queen’s, providing excellent customer service, serving food and beverages, replenishing stock, operating tills, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene.

Full training will be provided, including Level 2 Food Safety and Allergen Training, mandatory training, and all essential role-specific training to support your development and success within the team.

Full uniform and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are provided. NHS Terms and Conditions of Service apply.

Different shifts available working: -

Evenings working 1600-1900
Mornings/Afternoon between 09:00-1700
Evenings between 13:45 - 2000

The main duties of a Catering Assistant Retail working at Burton Hospital are to work as part of Facilities to carry out a variety of tasks associated with food preparation, food and beverage service to patients, visitors and staff.

Delivering excellent customer care by demonstrating helpfulness, awareness, and compassion to patients, visitors, staff, and colleagues.

Preparing and serving a range of food and beverages in a busy retail environment.

Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the café and associated work areas.

Undertaking cleaning duties in accordance with departmental cleaning schedules, including equipment, work surfaces, crockery, and cutlery.

Supporting the day-to-day operation of Café Retreat and Coffee @ Queen's to ensure a welcoming and efficient service for all customers.

Have a good understanding of customer care and be able to communicate well with patients, staff and visitors.

Catering experience and a Food Safety Certificate are desirable but not essential, skills and technical training will be given.
