Salary: G20 - £79035 to £92982 + 20% flex fund

An excellent opportunity has arisen for two Senior Project Managers to join HS2 and support the delivery of major civil engineering works across one of the programme's most significant sections.
The roles sit within the main works civils programme, covering major earthworks, bridges, viaducts and associated infrastructure. With substantial delivery still ahead, you will work closely with the main works contractor and wider project team to proactively resolve issues, manage interfaces and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme and cost requirements.
This is a collaborative delivery role. You will be expected to challenge where required, but equally work alongside contractors, suppliers and stakeholders to identify solutions and achieve a common project goal.
As a Senior Project Manager at HS2 you will play a key role -
Accountabilities:
- Responsible for fulfilling the duties and obligations of the NEC3 Project Manager on behalf of the Project Client.
- Responsible for supporting the Project Client and leading a team of Project Managers in the effective and efficient management of construction contracts within an Integrated Project Team.
- Responsible for establishing, monitoring, and managing the consistent delivery of contract management activities, including identifying emergent or systemic issues and driving them through to resolution.
- Responsible for managing and monitoring contract performance to ensure contractual obligations and project objectives are achieved.
- Responsible for reviewing and accepting programme schedules.
- Responsible for proactively managing risks within the Integrated Project Team's scope and supporting the mitigation of wider programme-level risks.
- Responsible for carrying out Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) duties as delegated by the Client Representative.
About You:
- Strong project management expertise across the full project lifecycle, including planning, procurement, delivery, and implementation of complex projects.
- Advanced ability to manage project schedules, dependencies, risks, costs, and benefits to achieve successful project outcomes.
- Proven problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate options, balance competing priorities, and deliver effective solutions.
- Strong decision-making and analytical capabilities, using data and evidence to support recommendations and strategic planning.
- Skilled in influencing, negotiating, and collaborating with internal stakeholders, contractors, and supply chain partners.
- Excellent relationship-building skills, with experience managing stakeholder engagement and resolving complex risks and issues.
- Thorough understanding of contract management, supplier performance, risk management, and technical project delivery within large-scale programmes.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams on complex infrastructure or technical projects, supported by a degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience) in project management, engineering, or commercial management.
