Full time starting salary is normally in the range £33,002 to £35,608 with potential progression once in post to £39,906

Background

To provide statistical support to several applied health and methodological research projects. The work will involve supporting delivery of pre-specified analyses, consolidating and summarising analysis material, and contributing to the writing and delivery of research outputs. The projects include analysis of a pilot cluster trials, support delivery of a statistical analysis plan for a large cluster randomised trial, analysis of correlated data with mixed models, and supporting delivery of spatial evaluation analyses and models and protocol development.

Role Summary

• Support delivery of statistical analyses and outputs across several projects and research grants.
• Operate within the area of biostatistical analysis, including use of generalised mixed models and spatial analyses.
• Contribute to publications.

Main Duties

• Analyse research data as directed. Knowledge of generalised linear mixed models and spatial models is advantageous
• Present research outputs, including drafting academic publications or parts thereof, for example at seminars and as posters
• Develop and consolidate results from different techniques, models and methods
• Provide guidance as required to support staff and any students who may be assisting with research
• Deal with problems that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines
• Carry out administrative tasks related directly to the delivery of the research
• Fosters a fair and equitable workplace for all staff
• Identify and respond to equality and diversity issues in line with relevant university policies and procedures

Person Specification

• Degree or equivalent in statistics, mathematics, or associated area
• Practical experience of applying the relevant skills and techniques, including spatial analyses and generalised linear mixed models
• Ability to analyse information and communicate effectively
• Ability to access and organise resources successfully
• Knowledge of the protected characteristics and duties under the Equality Act 2010. Including fostering good relations and advancing the universities Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED)
