We are looking for an experienced Lead Governance Professional to lead the governance function of a dynamic and values-driven education organisation.
This is a high-impact role working closely with the Trust Board, Members, Trustees, Local Governing Bodies and senior leaders, providing expert governance advice and ensuring effective compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Location: Nottingham
Salary: £39,863 - £44,075 per annum
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Working Pattern: All year round (part-time and term-time options may be considered)
Hybrid working available after training period - 2-3 days WFH
The Role
- Providing strategic governance advice to the Trust Board, Members and Local Governing Bodies.
- Ensuring governance structures and processes are effective, compliant and aligned with best practice.
- Advising on constitutional matters, delegated responsibilities and DfE requirements.
- Leading high-quality clerking and meeting management for the Board and committees.
- Maintaining governance records, registers, statutory disclosures and compliance documentation.
- Supporting Trustee and Governor recruitment, onboarding, succession planning and training.
- Monitoring governance effectiveness and supporting continuous improvement.
- Acting as a key point of contact with external bodies including the DfE and ESFA.
- Line managing and developing a member of the governance support team.
About You
- Proven experience in a governance or compliance role, ideally within a Multi-Academy Trust, education setting or corporate environment.
- A strong understanding of school governance, the Academy Trust Handbook and DfE compliance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to advise and influence senior stakeholders.
- Experience managing competing priorities and deadlines across multiple governance bodies.
- Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience coaching, mentoring or line managing others.
- A professional governance qualification such as CGI, NGA or equivalent would be advantageous.
