Maintenance Engineer

Salary: £60,095 - £66,369 (plus benefits)
Hours: 38 hours per week
Location: Eastcroft Energy from Waste Facility, Nottingham, NG2 3JH

As a Maintenance Engineer at FCC Environment, you will manage, supervise, plan and coordinate the day-to-day electrical system works. You will help to maximise plant reliability, flexibility, availability and overall performance while maintaining high standards of quality, health, safety and environmental performance.

You will also support site improvement projects, manage maintenance support agreements, play a key role in outage planning and provide cover for the Maintenance Manager when required.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week.

What will you be doing?

- Providing leadership and direction to the maintenance team
- Planning and coordinating daily electrical maintenance activities to maximise plant reliability and performance
- Managing scheduled, preventative, planned and breakdown maintenance activities
- Maintaining, servicing and repairing plant equipment, ensuring accurate maintenance records are kept
- Managing contractors and reviewing risk assessments and method statements to ensure work is completed safely
- Leading the development and review of risk assessments and safe working procedures for engineering and maintenance activities
- Supporting outage planning, scheduling and coordination
- Managing maintenance and improvement projects across the site
- Supporting the control of maintenance budgets in line with business plan requirements
- Completing staff appraisals and ensuring individual, team and business training needs are met
- Promoting teamwork, development and continuous improvement within the maintenance team
- Acting as the delegated authority for the Maintenance Manager when required
- Supporting the business outside normal working hours and adapting working patterns where necessary

What are we looking for?

- A time-served NVQ Electrical apprenticeship
- City & Guilds Parts 1 and 2, or an equivalent qualification
- Relevant electrical regulations training
- Experience of working with 11kV systems
- NEBOSH or IOSH qualification, with a strong understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements
- SCADA and PLC experience
- Knowledge of thermal power plant processes, permit systems, safety systems, HV switching and switchgear
- Experience of reading and interpreting technical drawings
- At least five years' power plant operations experience within a supervisory role
- Previous experience of managing and developing maintenance teams
- Strong communication, interpersonal and motivational skills
- The ability to work independently, take responsibility and respond effectively during changing operational situations
- A flexible, self-motivated and detail-focused approach
