As a UK regulator, HSE collects, processes, and produces a large amount of information relating to our regulatory activities. We have legal obligations as a government department to ensure that we are managing this information in accordance with our statutory obligations and can be both accountable and transparent in our decision making. HSE?s Bootle-based Information Management Team (IMT), is responsible for providing advice and guidance on the effective management of information across the organisation.
As part of the Information Management Team, the post holder will be responsible for managing the governance of HSE?s records and information management estate including architecture, compliance, data discovery, configuration changes, building capability across the organisation, and working with system engineers and developers to make sure Knowledge and Information Management (KIM) best practice is incorporated in IT system implementation.
The role will also support HSE?s strategic direction for data and information management, providing a centre of expertise and control in HSE and will provide advice and support on all aspects of information management and governance, supported by a programme of training and development to improve Information Management skills across the organisation.
Part time working hours are available for this role. We can accept part time applicants who can commit to working a minimum of 30 hours per week.

Hybrid Working
At HSE, we are proud to be able to offer our people the opportunity to work in a hybrid way which combines working from home and the office. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement, and your allocated office will be your contractual place of work. There will be a requirement to travel to the office for various activities, e.g., collaborative working, supporting and training colleagues. If hybrid working is suitable for you and your role, you will be expected to attend the office, or other business-related site, for 60% of your working week. The arrangements will be determined primarily by business need, but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account.
Therefore, we would encourage candidates to consider if the commute from home to the office is a feasible distance to travel before making an application. Please note that if you are successful, hybrid working will be discussed prior to taking up the post.
Travel
As you will be working as part of a Bootle based team, it should be assumed that the successful candidate (if not already Bootle based) will be required to attend Bootle Head Office, on average, 2-3 days every 6-8 weeks. For details of HSE locations please see here HSE Offices

Sift Information
The sift will take place from week commencing 12th October 2026, when you will be assessed on your Personal Statement and the Lead Technical Skill.
IMPORTANT: The sift will be conducted on a knock-out basis. An initial sift will be conducted on the Lead Technical Skill. Applicants who meet the benchmark for the Technical Skill, will then be progress to a full sift in which the Personal Statement will also be assessed. If the benchmark for the Technical Skill is not met, you will not receive a score for your Personal Statement.
Interview Information
Interviews will take place via Microsoft Teams from week commencing 26th October 2026 when you will be assessed against your Technical skill, Behaviours detailed within the job advert as well as your Experience.
Please be advised that the Lead Technical Skill will be used to determine outcomes in the event of a tie-break.
Interview dates may change due to panel availability.

Further Information
