Audit Manager Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Audit Manager to join our team in the Glasgow office!
Working directly with the Audit Partner to oversee a portfolio of clients and ensuring that all compliance requirements are met. You will oversee and lead on-site, off-site and remote audit teams, providing a hands-on approach to delivering a service that meets clients' expectations and supports the Partners and the audit team. You will be a leader, a problem solver, have a genuine desire to work collaboratively, manage several workloads with good organisation, and can operate confidently. You will also consider and utilise all business development opportunities.
Key responsibilities of an Audit Manager will include:
- Maintain a high level of technical audit knowledge and awareness of emerging issues - attending necessary training/development opportunities to support this
- Acting as a key point of contact within the firm for our audit clients, together with the Audit RI. This includes reacting quickly to, as well as anticipating, client requests / needs, keeping clients informed of progress in relation to all aspects of the engagement and maintaining regular contact with clients.
- Complete engagements within agreed budgets and timescales and identify potential opportunities for additional billing.
- Ensure that the firm's risk management and quality control procedures are always adhered to
- Play an integral role in the recruitment, retention, development and motivation of the team, which includes participating in recruitment, as well as ensuring personal development plans and job feedback documentation is completed within deadlines
- Maintain a high level of technical audit knowledge and awareness of emerging issues - attending necessary training/development opportunities to support this
- Effectively manage Partner expectations, communicating regularly on progress of jobs
- Oversee and lead the planning, fieldwork and finalisation of all areas of the audit
- Liaising and meeting with clients in relation to audit planning, progress and conclusion. Making pro-active recommendations where relevant
- Overseeing audit fieldwork according to the agreed audit plan and the firm’s audit procedures
- Provide a high level of technical guidance on accounts matters
- An understanding of audit analytics
About you
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
- Qualified CA / ACCA / ACA professional with at least 2 years’ post qualification experience
- Experience of working in practice
- Has full understanding of auditing standards/accounting principles
- Experienced working under statutory compliance under FRS102 and undertaking specialist audits
- Knowledge of UK GAAP and Company Law
- Excellent IT skills are essential - particularly Microsoft Excel
- Experience working in the Not-for-Profit sector – Registered Social Landlords, Charities, Housing Associations, Credit Unions – is desirable.
- Experience of working with audit and accounts production software – e.g., CCH, Caseware
- Actively listens and asks probing questions
- Ability to advise on risk and other issues concisely, and articulates potential impacts in a structured manner
- Ability to adapt to working with clients in varying sectors
- Experience of working with audit analytics software is desirable
- Use of Xero and other cloud accounting packages is desirable
- Clean driving licence and access to own vehicle
